Is God Sovereign or does He bite His fingernails?

The Lord God Almighty is absolute sovereign God over all things whatsoever. He created the heavens and the earth: everything whatsoever that exists. He has power over all things. He gives whatever He chooses to whomever He pleases. Nothing exists or occurs without His permission.

"In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth."
(Genesis 1:1 KJV)

"All things were made by him; and without him was not
anything made that was made." (John 1:3 KJV)

"Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power:
for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are
and were created." (Revelation 4:11 KJV)

"I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and
create evil: I the Lord do all these things." (Isaiah 45:7
KJV)

" . . . whatsoever is under the whole heaven is mine."
(Job 41:11 KJV)

" . . . for all the earth is mine." (Exodus 9:15 KJV)

"For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon
a thousand hills." (Psalms 50:10 KJV)

" . . . for the world is mine, and the fulness thereof."
(Psalms 50:12 KJV)

"And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked
shall I return thither: The Lord gave, and the Lord hath
taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord." (Job 1:21 KJV)

"And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and
he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among
the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say
unto him, What doest thou?" (Daniel 4:35 KJV)

"Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with
mine own?" (Matthew 20:15a KJV)

"Behold, he taketh away, who can hinder him? who will say
unto him, What doest thou?" (Job 9:12 KJV)

"The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked
for the day of evil." (Proverbs 16:4 KJV)

"Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there any
thing too hard for me?" (Jeremiah 32:27 KJV)

"Thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth" (2 Kings 19:15).

". . . being predestinated according to the purpose (or plan) of Him who worketh ALL THINGS after the counsel of His own will." Eph. 1:11

"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose(or plan). Rom. 8:28

Col 1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether [they be] thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

Acts 2:22-23 Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:
Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:

Amen!

Jamie, I'm reading Tozer's "The Knowledge of the Holy" and walking through it with my college students and I just study his chapter on the omnipotence of God. "Sovereignty and omnipotence must go together. One cannot exist without the other. To reign, God must have power, and to reign sovereignly, He must have all power... the word (omnipotent) derives from the Latin and is Identical in meaning with the more familiar "almighty" which we have from the Anglo-Saxon. "almighty" occurs fifty-six times in our English Bible and is never used of anyone but God. He alone is almighty." - Tozer

OUR GOD IS GREATER!

Daniel,
I love the fact that the God I serve is "Almighty". I am thankful that He is dependent on no man to accomplish His will, but that we get to join Him in His great plan to Glorify His name on the Earth.

A low view of God leads to a high view of self and a lot of bad Christian music!!! lol..

Which is greater,
1. a God who controls all things and gets his way in the end or

2. a God who allows others to experience freedom in response to Him and God still gets his way in the end.

I choose the latter, but still respect the former.

Stimulating posts to both head and heart.
