The Catholic Vote

Catholicvote.com put this commercial together encouraging Catholics to vote. Is this good or bad in your opinion. Who do you think they are urging other Catholics to vote for?

1Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Romans 13:1

Its kinda hard to tell who they want you to vote for because the candidates keep changing their minds on what they believe in. A lot of times its even hard to tell even by the way they vote in Congress how they believe. Lord help us. At this point I would say they want McCain because he is presently more pro life than Obama if they havent changed again. The commercial seems to be focusing on the abortion issue the most.

Moral values is the key issue here, not who to vote for. Kingdoms In Conflict by Charles Colson is an outstanding book that addresses these issues that we face today.

Vasily Bykov, winner of every Soviet literarily award, declares "there can be no morality without faith".

Another Soviet writer writes "Who extinguished the light of goodness in our soul? Who blew out the lamp of our conscience, toppled it into a dark, deep pit in which we are groping, trying to find the bottom, a support and some kind of guiding light to the future?

These writers have boldly attacked Communism for creating an all-compassing belief that has plunged the Russian people into a moral abyss.

The irony of our century is that in those nations that still enjoy the greatest human freedoms, this traditional role of religion is denigrated; while in nations that have fallen under the oppressor's yoke, the longing for the spiritual is keenest. In the West intellectuals widely disdain religion; in the Soviet Union they cry out for its return.

We are fast becoming a nation devoid of transcendent values; we must remember that God, not man is the measure of all things.

Therefore, we must also remember that the Christian's goal is not to strive to rule, but to be ruled. Christ's command to "seek first the kingdom of God", is to be ruled by God. We are not to try to usher in the Kingdom of God on earth, only Christ can do that upon his return.

The Good News is that the price is paid and His Kingdom is open to all who desire admission.

These have been some excerpts from the book Kingdoms In Conflict, I would encourage everyone to read it.

It is our responsibility to vote.

I thought the key issue was who the ad was trying to promote.

But anyway, yes, God is sovereign and we must live righteous no matter who is the leader.

The point is to try to elect a candidate who more closely resembles God's perfect will instead of ending up with His permissive will.

We cant just sit back and talk about what we should and should'nt do, and I'm as guilty as any to do that sometimes. We are getting to be a lazy nation. Washington loves for us to accept whatever they hand out.

Im glad we had some founding fathers who opposed England.

I bet there are millions who wished they had a hero in the Soviet Union.

And God would honor them.

And the people would follow.
