Pray for our President Elect Barack Obama

Last night was a very historic night. African Americans around the world should be proud as we voted in the first biracial man to ever win President of the United States.

Here are some thoughts from Justin Taylor that I agree with and I will hold to because I believe and trust in God's Word.

No matter who you voted for--or whether you voted at all--it's important to remember that, as President, Barack Obama will have God-given authority to govern us, and that we should view him as a servant of God (Rom. 13:1, 4) to whom we should be subject (Rom. 13:1, 5; 1 Pet. 2:13-14).

We are to pray for Barack Obama (1 Tim. 2:1-2).
We are to thank God for Barack Obama (1 Tim. 2:1-2).
We are to respect Barack Obama (Rom. 13:7).
We are to honor Barack Obama (Rom. 13:7; 1 Pet. 2:17).

And everybody said "Amen"- even you die hard Republicans who thought you stood a snowballs chance in Arizona! HA HA

Jamie,

I loved how you highlighted "biracial." Lost in the shuffle of all of this is the stigma of being biracial. I hope that it begins to fall with his election.

Think of the famous biracial people in our country - Obama, Jordin Sparks, Halle Berry, The John and Kate Plus 8 kids.

Not only should African Americans be proud, but the USA as a whole, because this is truly what it means to be a melting pot - whether you are Republican or Democrat.

King David's family tree was not all Hebrew either.

Grace and peace,
