Washer on false teachers

You either love Paul Washer or you hate him. He doesn't beat around the bush and you know where he stands. But in this sermon he makes a very bold and judgmental claim against Joel Osteen. Tell me if you agree or disagree.
This is from a sermon by Paul Washer:

“Their god is their belly, but, they look like sheep; how is that? How is it that they look like sheep? By their flattering, smooth speech that in an age of tolerance makes you think they are men most full of love.

They will never contradict, they will never create a scandal, they will never be offensive, they will never speak forth things to anger men. They have the smooth tongue of a serpent, and they flatter men, and they give carnal men exactly what they want.

Let me tell you something about false teachers, you think so many times that people fall prey to false teachers, and that, in a sense, can be true, at times. But, I think the dominant theme in Scripture is just the opposite. False teachers are God’s judgment on people who don’t want God…but, in the name of religion, plan on getting everything their carnal heart desires.

That’s why a Joel Osteen is raised up; those people who sit under him are not victims of him, he is the judgment of God upon them…because they want exactly what he wants, and it’s not God!”

Is Joel Osteen really the judgment of God on people?

Just imagine what it must be like to go to Paul Washer's church every Sunday and listen to him rant and rave against other preachers (like Joel Osteen). Can that possibly help anyone with their Walk? Paul Washer has a failed ministry... a ministry of attack. Perhaps Paul Washer is exactly the thing he accuses others of being: God's judgement against all those whose preferred "worship experience" is to attack others. To anyone who wishes to live a victorious life in Jesus Christ, flee from Satan... er... Paul Washer before he turns you into a cynical brother-basher like himself.

Don,
Thanks for your comments. It sounds like you don't like Paul Washer.
I think Paul was talking Joel's theology, not Joel. I personally don't see anything wrong with questioning someone's theology. Happened all the time in the Bible.
I also don't think Joel is God's judgment on the church nor do I think Paul Washer is Satan.

My post did not require an answer, it was an observation. Questions require answers...

Still use your name.
Especially if you are gonna make the types of observations you were making.

Just seems to me people who post as anonymous are cowards. But that is just an observation.

False prophet.....smack. That came out of nowhere. He just slipped that in the side door with no cause. That snippet of the message makes me think that Washer was looking to sucker punch Osteen. The false prophet thing just got sandwiched in somehow. Maybe he is so used to slamming someone that he just had to get one in to save face. The whole message would be more profitable? False prophet just popped out of nowhere after his listing of how we should all create waves. And, I know that the gospel is offensive, but we are to love one another as is repeated over and over in I John and elsewhere. Is this truth in love??? Don't think so.

Sometimes we get caught up in our style label and feel that if we are supposed to be "in your face", then we better get in someone's face before we leave. Gotta keep my standard up:) It kinda looks that way.

By the way, the photo of Washer implies a mean-spirit as I look at it and I don't even know him. Look at the guy........He looks like he is ready to slap someone.

Gary who.

Paul is ulitmately talking about Joel's theology.
Do you really believe Joel preaches the Gospel.
I mean on Larry King he wouldn't even admit that Jesus is the only way.

The apostle Paul opposed the apostle Peter to his face and put it in the Bible. Why? Peter was being unbiblical in his actions as a minister of God.

Paul in the Bible always dropped names.

Now I am not a big Paul Washer fan. But i will post a video that Mark Driscoll did about Joel and you tell me how you like it.

I am not defending Paul Washer.
All you have to do is watch Joel to understand his theology.

Paul in the bible did confront Peter to his face but he also wrote letters to churches about other men and their false theology and he said "from such shun".
That is the way men do it as well.
I could run reference for you but i am working on a sermon tom. and i will be talking about how evertime Jesus had a great multitude He spoke truth and truth seperated the crowd.

Read John 6 or Matt. 13

Jesus must not have ever read Joel's book or heard Him preach because they don't speak the same message.
