God is Awesome

"For the LORD your God is the God of gods and the Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God..." Deuteronomy 10:17

On Wed. Nights our Bible study group is studying the "Gripped by the Greatness of God" study by James McDonald.

This week we are looking at Isaiah 40. The title "Gripped by the Awesomeness of God."
Some of the notes from Isaiah 40 are:

1. God has two arms: God's arm of justice, power, and rule and God's tender and caring arm.
10 Behold, the Lord GOD shall come with a strong hand,
And His arm shall rule for Him;
Behold, His reward is with Him,
And His work before Him.
11 He will feed His flock like a shepherd;
He will gather the lambs with His arm,
And carry them in His bosom,
And gently lead those who are with young. Isaiah 40: 10-11

2. We don't' influence God's plans a bit.
"It is He who sits above the circle of the earth,
"And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers,..." Isaiah 40:22

3. Nothing can substitute for God.
19 The workman molds an image,
The goldsmith overspreads it with gold,
And the silversmith casts silver chains.
20 Whoever is too impoverished for such a contribution
Chooses a tree that will not rot;
He seeks for himself a skillful workman
To prepare a carved image that will not totter. Isaiah 40: 19-20

4. Some things you can fly above. Some things you have to go through. Some things last for a lifetime.
But those who wait on the LORD
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40: 31

Question:
When is the last time you have been Gripped by the Awesomeness of God?

In what area of your life do you most need God to show up in His awesomeness?

It was a day like any other day...I was driving along listening to 106.9(this would be a good commercial huh? ha ha)
Usually I don't really listen to the words that much. Lately I have had a lot...a lot thrown at me by life...so I was really in need of God's presence. Suddenly I could hear and actually FEEL the words being sung. I have never felt like that before, I dont think, just driving around like that. It was the greatest feeling, like God was so near and nothing could defeat me.
